Emergency sirens to be tested this Friday, January 18

Don't worry if you hear an alarm on Friday. It is probably an emergency test.

Media Release

The City of Iowa City has been notified by Johnson County Emergency Management Coordinator Dave Wilson that outdoor warning system sirens will go off this Friday, January 18, but they won't be indicative of an emergency. The sirens will be activated twice over the noon hour to test a software upgrade to the county-wide radio system and make sure the system is working properly. Each test will take one minute or less.Β
