Recycle or trash old Christmas trees in Johnson County, see options (kwwl.com) — If you live in Iowa City, you can set natural, undecorated Christmas trees at the curb on your regular collection day without a yard waste sticker. Johnson County residents without curbside composting can take trees to the Iowa City Landfill’s compost facility for a small fee, and unusable artificial trees can be handled through bulky item pickup or landfill drop-off. 
2. Charge enhanced against Georgia man arrested in downtown Iowa City Christmas morning (1630kcjj.com) — A Georgia man arrested outside Dublin Underground in downtown Iowa City on Christmas morning now faces a more serious charge. Police say his interference count has been upgraded to Escape From Custody, significantly increasing potential jail time. He was also cited for public intoxication and unlawful possession of a prescription drug.
3. Nebraska man accused of using U-Haul and chain to drag ATM out of Iowa City convince store (1630kcjj.com) — An Omaha man is accused of helping drag an ATM out of an Iowa City convenience store using a rented U-Haul and chain back in August. Police say cellphone data and other evidence link him to the Moss Ridge Road Urban Fuel burglary, with about $4,000 missing. He now faces burglary and theft charges that could mean up to ten years in prison.
4. Stories of the Century: 2023, Iowa's run to the championship game (cbs2iowa.com) — Iowa City fans are invited to relive the Hawkeye women’s historic 2023 run from a Big Ten tournament title to the NCAA championship game appearance. As part of a yearlong “Stories of the Century” series, Iowa’s News Now will spotlight top Eastern Iowa sports teams, athletes, coaches, and stories from each year of the 21st century on Monday and Wednesday nights.
