Free Health Screenings Being Offered April 20 at the Iowa City Senior Center

All are invited to the Iowa City Senior Center on Saturday, April 20 from 8 AM - 12 PM to receive free health screenings from a variety of health care providers.

Early detection of disease greatly increases the chances for successful treatment. All are invited to the Iowa City Senior Center on Saturday, April 20 from 8 AM - 12 PM to receive free health screenings from a variety of health care providers.

No appointments are needed, and the screenings are open to the general public. Health screenings include:

- Skin cancer screenings provided by UIHC Dermatology Department and the American Academy of Dermatology

- EKG screenings provided by UI Heart and Vascular Center

- Hearing tests provided by Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Center

- Vision screenings provided by Dr. Rebecca Aspholm of Jensen Eyecare Center

- Fitness Assessments provided by ACE certified Personal Trainer Kristy Cameron

- Spinal and postural screenings provided by Dr. Jia Mei Chen of Back 2 Act Chiropractic and Wellness Center

- Blood pressure screenings provided by the Visiting Nurse Association

- Cholesterol screenings offered by the Visiting Nurse Association for a $17 fee (to obtain the most accurate results, a 10-12 hour fast is recommended)

Some providers may require participants to complete a form in order to receive a free screening. Screenings are offered on a first come, first served basis; some screenings may have limited availability.

In addition to health screenings, local practitioners will offer these free services:

- Chair massage
- Ear acupuncture
- Healing touch
- Reiki therapy
