Girls Rule at Girls on the Run in Iowa City (Photos)
Hundreds of moms, dads, boys, friends, guardians, and ... and ... GIRLS came out for Girls on the Run on Saturday in Iowa City.
Young girls were the stars of the show on Saturday at the annual Girls on the Run 5K.
The event drew young girls from throughout Iowa City, Coralville and North Liberty schools. The girls have been practicing after schools for weeks with their teams to build up to the run.

Most of the girls ran with a buddy on the route through the trails on University of Iowa campus.
Girls on the Run is a "positive youth development program which combines an interactive curriculum and running to inspire self-respect and healthy lifestyles in pre-teen girls," according to the organization's website.
