Iowa City Police Chief Hargadine Passed Over for St. Charles Police Chief Position
Hargadine made it as one of three finalist candidates the search committee brought in for interviews and tours of the city.

The search for a new police chief for the city of St. Charles, Missouri has ended with a different candidate than Iowa City Police Chief Sam Hargadine.
The St. Louis Post Dispatch is reporting that Randy McKinley, police chief from Bloomington, Illinois, has been selected instead.
Hargadine was one of more than 45 people who applied for the position, which was vacated in April. Hargadine previously said he was interested in the position due to family that lives in the area.

He was one of three finalists the city brought in the candidates for tours and interviews. The search committee includes St. Charles County Sheriff Tom Neer, Tom Hughes, a St. Charles County builder and former police officer, council members Laurie Feldman and Ron Stivision, Director of Administration Michael Spurgeon, Faith and a representative from human resources.
The remaining council members and several police officers met the candidates during a social hour.Â

Interim Chief Larry Stulce, who is among the candidates under consideration for the post, was hired on for a six month period which ended Nov. 15.
