Iowa City Police: Man Confesses to Acting as Accomplice in November Gas Station Robbery

An additional man was arrested in connection with a robbery that occurred last November, after police have already arrested the man they believe committed the robbery


An Iowa City man is facing first-degree robbery charges after he was implicated as an accomplice for a robbery onΒ .

According to police complaints, Gunnar Thomas Olson, 21, allegedly has submitted a written confession and apology for his participation in the crime, which consisted in him acting as the driver for another man, Marvis Jackson, 27, who was caught after a series of robberies and who has also already gave police a confession and apology for the crime.

Olson wrote in his confession that on Nov. 13 at about 9:39 p.m. he assisted another man in robbing a On The Go BP gas station by providing the robber a ride in his Silver Mazda and also giving the man a red coat to be used during the robbery. Olson also said that he knew that a crime was about to be committed when the other man in the vehicle told him, "Let's go hit it" in reference to ribbing the store.

In his confession, Marvis Jackson said he was the one who robbed the BP station on Nov. 13, and that he allegedly pointed his gun at the clerk and asked for money and a carton of Newport 100 Cigarettes.

Olson told police that he received $20 and two packages of Newport 100 Cigarettes for his assistance in the robbery.

Olson was booked into the Johnson County Jail at 5:33 a.m. this morning according to online jail records, and has a $75,000 bond for first degree robbery.

Olson has several arrests on his record according to online court records, but he has never been convicted of a charge at the felony level.
