Iowa City Police: Man Had Sex With Girl, 13, Who Claimed She Was 18; Police Say She Didn't Pass Eyeball Test

An Iowa City man is facing a felony sexual abuse charge for having sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl who told him she was much older while talking on Facebook.

A 21-year-old Iowa City man is facing a serious felony charge after he allegedly had sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl after meeting on Facebook.

According to an Iowa City Police criminal complaint, Devon Alexander Kent, of Iowa City, is accused of meeting up with the girl at K-Mart on April 7 at roughly 8:00 p.m. and then walking with her to his apartment. There Kent allegedly had engaged in vaginal intercourse with the girl, as well as receiving oral sex from the girl, according to the complaint.

Kent told police that the girl had told him she was 18-years-old and the victim confirmed that this was the case. Police looked at the Facebook conversation and said that it corroborated what the two had said. However, police said in the complaint that "the victim does not appear to be eighteen years old based on her physical appearance."
