Iowa City Police: Woman Slashed Wildly with Knife at Boyfriend Hidden in the Bathroom

After a protracted argument, an Iowa City woman allegedly began swinging a knife at her boyfriend as he hid in the bathroom of the residence.


An argument between an Iowa City couple took a turn for the worse on March 30, with a woman allegedly brandishing a knife while her boyfriend sought refuge in the bathroom.

According to Iowa City Police complaints, at 6:30 p.m. on March 30 police responded to an apartment at the 2100 block of Riverside Drive for the report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arriving they found a woman, Grecia Aragon, 20, loading her belongings into a car. She told police that she had been verbally and physically fighting with her boyfriend since about noon that day.

When police spoke with the boyfriend they found that he had a red swollen eye and a cut to his leg. He told police that during the argument he had shut himself in the bathroom because Aragon was being aggressive and had a knife. Aragon allegedly attempted to open the door with the knife, slash her boyfriends feet by sliding the knife under the door, and allegedly lunged forward and stabbed at the man as he opened the door a crack to speak with her.

Aragon was charged with domestic abuse with intent or display of a weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor.
