Iowa City Press-Citizen Announces General Manager Aguirre Leaving for New Position

The Iowa City Press-Citizen is now in the market for a new general manager.

The Press-Citizen announced today that Gabe Aguirre, the general manager of the Press-Citizen since Dec. 2010, will be leaving the paper to take a position of general manager of Hawkeye Sports Properties, a property of Learfield Sports.

Aguirre has worked for the Gannett Company since 2000. He was formerly the advertising manager at the Fort Collins Coloradoan and Coloradoan Media Group.

Senior Editor Tricia Brown will now lead as interim general manager of the Press-Citizen.

Gannett will actively be searching for a replacement for Aguirre according to the announcement.
