Iowa City Road Work: N. Governor to be Reduced to One Lane to Help with Dewey Street Project

The section of N. Governor will be closed down on Thursday at its intersection with Brown Street. The construction is expected to take six weeks to finish.

So this may not be all that surprising, but brick road work goes a bit slower than other types.

N. Governor Street will be reduced to one lane of traffic for about six weeks at its intersection with Brown Street starting Thursday, weather permitting. This closure will allow the required replacement of the street as part of the Dewey Street Brick Reconstruction Project.

Weather permitting, beginning on Thursday, April 18, 2013, N. Governor Street will be reduced to one lane of traffic at its intersection with Brown Street. This lane reduction is necessary to facilitate the removal and replacement of the west half of the intersection as part of the Dewey Street Brick Reconstruction Project. It is anticipated that construction will take place for about 6 weeks and that normal traffic will resume by the end of May.
