Iowa City Update: Section of First Avenue Still Closed for Water Main Break Repairs

Media Release:

S 1st Ave., between Friendship St. & E Court St. remains closed to traffic to accommodate repair of the pavement damaged by a water main break on New Year's Day.

A detour has been placed to reroute traffic. Also, A St. remains closed at its' intersection with S 1st Ave. It is anticipated that S 1st Ave. and A St. will reopen to normal traffic by late afternoon on Friday, January 4th.

Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time or to seek an alternate route during this time period. As always, caution should be exercised when driving through all construction areas.
