Letter to the Editor: More Information Needed on Revenue Purpose Statement
In this letter to the editor, the author wants the school district to provide more details before asking the public to approve the important revenue statement.

More information is needed in order to make a more informed decision about the RPS. A significant amount of data from consultants about building needs and capacities might be available February 1st. In reality, April! While the Administrative staff has been saying in presentations that they would like to earmark 30 million for renovations and improvements, they have yet to produce a list. Sometime in December, a working draft with earmarks for potential renovations, additions, and new schools with no guarantees. According to the Superintendent, each building has been walked through by the districts skilled tradesman, as well as each principal compiling a list of needs and wants for their school, why not publish this?
When asked, what projects they would like to do first, the answer is always the same: HVAC upgrades. But it is never mentioned what school(s) this would be at. What about leaking roofs, plumbing, ADA compliance issues, and storage space for supplies? HVAC upgrades or implementation has been a hot topic in the district for years. HVAC is a concern in the East and South East side, is that just a carrot being dangled in front of the voters? The same thing could be said for the third comprehensive High School in the North Corridor, which district officials admitted at the meeting at North Central, that even if it was built they couldn’t afford to open. Without supporting documentation, little has been shown to the public, and the mantra from the District is “just trust us”.
