Martin Luther King Jr. Day: What's Open, What's Closed in Iowa City on the Holiday?
A list of closings and availability for city services in Iowa City on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

City administrative offices at City Hall will be closed on Monday, January 21 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Other offices or facilities that will be closed on Monday include the Airport administrative office, Animal Care and Adoption Center, Landfill and Recycling Center, Parks and Recreation offices, and Senior Center.
The following schedules will be in effect for Monday:
Airport: Jet Air (FBO) will be open regular hours.
Library: Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Parking: Parking ramps and on-street parking will operate normally. The Transportation Services office at 335 Iowa Avenue will be open.
Parks and Recreation: The Robert A. Lee Recreation Center and Mercer Pool / Scanlon Gym will be open regular hours, but the Recreation / Registration offices at both facilities will be closed.
Police: Patrol will operate and Front Desk will be open. Administrative and records offices will be closed.
Senior Center: Senior meals will not be served, and the Center will be closed for the day.
Solid Waste: There will be no curbside collection of refuse, recycling, and yard waste on Monday. Residents on the Monday route should have materials at the curb by 7 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, although the City cannot determine exactly what time the items will be collected. Residents on the Tuesday through Friday routes should follow their normal schedule, and have materials at the curb by 7 a.m.Β
Transit: Transit will operate, using a Saturday schedule. The Transportation Services office at 335 Iowa Avenue will be open.
Water: In case of a water emergency, call the 24-hour emergency number at319.356.5166.
City offices and operations will return to normal schedules on Tuesday, January 22.
