Police: Coralville Man Accused of Threatening Roommate with Steak Knives Following Fight

A fight between two men escalated to the point where knives came out, but the man was convinced to drop the knives before things got worse.

A Coralville man is facing an aggravated misdemeanor charge after a physical fight escalated into something nearly much uglier.

According to a Coralville Police complaint, Mark Anthony Stewart, 52, was in a physical fight with his roommate at 512 5th St. Unit B in Coralville on Jan. 13 at 8:24 p.m. The fight became more heated and Stewart decided to draw two steak knives and advance toward his roommate, according to the complaint. It was at this point that a second roommate got involved and convinced Stewart to drop the knives, which he did.

Stewart is charged with assault with display of a deady weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor. He currently is in the Johnson County Jail on $5,000 cash bond.
