Road Rage: Iowa City Man Charged with Felony After Allegedly Kicking Car Door, Rendering it Inoperable

Police say that the incident occurred at the intersection of Kirkwood and Keokuk Streets at Dec. 26.


An Iowa City man is facing a felony criminal mischief charge after he allegedly kicked a Honda's door so hard it no longer could function.

According to an Iowa City police criminal complaint, at 6:20 p.m. on Dec. 26 at the intersection of Keokuk and Kirkwood Streets, Cameron Oljans Freeman, 26, of Iowa City, was involved in a "road rage" dispute with another driver who was operating a white Honda.

Freeman allegedly exited his vehicle at the intersection and kicked the passenger's side door of the car, rendering it inoperable. Preliminary estimate of the damage by Arena Auto Body places the damages at $1,650.58, according to the complaint, qualifying Freeman for a felony charge.

Freeman was booked by police at 4:31 a.m. this morning and charged and released according to online jail records.
