Elsewhere, roads are partially or completely snow-packed, but passable, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation.
Public safety officials are advising holiday travelers that if they can delay their trips until the weekend, they should. Conditions are improving, but remain icy, according to a statement from Iowa Department of Transportation.

In its morning update, the DOT advised travelers to check Iowaβs 511 travel information before making their trip. Call (800) 288-1047 nationwide or 511 within Iowa, or visit the web site.
Primary travel concerns this morning are focused in eastern Iowa, according to the statement.
