Saturday Night Fire Badly Damages Samoa Drive Condo
The blaze displaced residents of multiple units, but there were no injuries reported.

There were no injuries reported resulting from a Saturday evening structure fire on Samoa Drive that required the response of multiple fire units.
According to a release from the Iowa City Fire Department, fire units responded to a structure fire at 413 Samoa Drive at 10:11 p.m. Saturday night, with the  initial response involved Quint 2, Truck 1, Engine 1, and a Battalion Chief unit.Upon arrival at the scene a five minutes later, smoke was seen billowing from the roof of a multifamily side-by-side condominium building.
The units were all on the scene by 10:20 p.m. and worked to insure that the fire was located within just one of the structures and that all of inhabitants had gotten out safely. A subsequent callback of off-duty ICFD personnel was made, along with two additional fire engines to assist. Johnson County Ambulance and MidAmerican Energy also assisted at the scene.

The fire was brought under control around 11:12 p.m. with fire extinguishment complete at 12:18 a.m, according to the release. The origin of the fire was determined to be located in an upstairs bathroom of the condo unit. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the ICFD Fire Investigation Team.
Occupants of two condo units, 413 and 409, were displaced as a result of the fire and extinguishment operations, according to the release.
