This Week in Iowa City Weather: More Rain, Flash Flooding, and, I'm Sorry, A Chance of Some Snow

I hope you enjoyed the sunny weather on Tuesday, because it's not going to be back for a bit.

Tuesday.

A peaceful, sunny day in Eastern Iowa. No rain or wind to speak of. Children are heard laughing in the distance. And--

You know I'm foreshadowing for something horrible coming next right?

Well it won't be that bad, but it will be more rain, sleet and possibly snow coming to the Iowa City area in the next few days. The weather forecast from the National Weather Service has rain starting up again today, with temperatures dropping as the week goes on.

With this heavy rain in the future, there also has been the declaration of a Flash Flood Watch by the NWS for several Eastern Iowa Counties, including Johnson County.

Rain and thunderstorms become progressively more likely as the week goes on, with tonight and Thursday night potentially having heavy rains. Then on Friday morning the temperature is projected to drop low enough that our old friend wintry mix (snow and rain) could be possible. The three day long deluge shall then clear Friday afternoon, and it is projected to be warmer and rain free on Saturday.

The Weather Underground 10-day weather forecast for Iowa City has the weather warming up about 10 degrees by next week, but that will come with a chance for more thunderstorms.
