University of Iowa students have found a whole new way to overshare, explore their sexuality, make stuff up, and wallow in narcissism. Tara Bannow of the Iowa City Press-Citizen has the story of the unaffiliated-to-the University of Iowa Facebook Confessions Page.

In contrast,  Adam B. Sullivan of the Press-Citizen has the wholesome story of the Notre Dame band visiting Regina.

Daily Links Excerpt of the Day

University of Iowa Confessions allows students to anonymously post their deepest secrets, the vast majority of which, it turns out, are sexual conquests. In the little more than two months the page has been active, it has garnered more than 6,000 “likes” and about 200 posts. Such confession pages have cropped up during the first months of 2013, prompting some college and university administrators to sort out their options for having them taken down.

Scans of confessions pages of other universities turn up complaints about messy roommates and tough classes, but nearly every post on UI’s page documents the explicit details of hook-ups with strangers. In fact, a few commentators even scolded a contributor for complaining about being called racist for disliking President Obama, saying that he or she was posting on the wrong page.

“Why is this on iowa (sic) confessions?” wondered Katie Bougher, a UI student from Indianola.
