West Upset by Prairie, Regina Downs a Tough West Branch Squad: Plus Scores From Other High School Action

Two teams entered their respective playoff games undefeated. Only one went on to the next round.

Trojans Upset at Home

The West High Trojans entered Monday night's game against Prairie the second ranked team in the state, undefeated in their first ten contests.

It was the eleventh, though, against an 8-3 Prairie Hawks team that ended up being their undoing.

The Trojans couldn't overcome three turnovers on their first three possessions as an aggressive Prairie squad defeated West High on their home field 49-28.

Regina Wins Again, Although it Wasn't Easy

The Iowa City Regina Regals have several undefeated seasons under their belt, and many of those wins came in dominating fashion.

The West Branch Bears gave them a run for their money in a 15-13 loss earlier this season, however, and Monday night's game was also a hard fought contest.

Like the Trojans, Regina also had problem holding onto the ball, losing two fumbles in the opening half and found their usually dominant offense stifled even while playing at home.

The Regals fell behind, for a short while, before rattling off 27 straight points to pull out the 27-9 victory.

The Regals are set to play Maquoketa this Friday in semifinals action.
