City Of Johnston: National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day
"We encourage the community to celebrate the contributions of our school resource officers".

February 15, 2022
February 15 has been declared by Mayor Paula Dierenfeld and the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) as National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day! We encourage the community to celebrate the contributions of our school resource officers. The NASRO and the Johnston Police Department believe SROs serve an important role in bridging the gap between youth, law enforcement and our community. According to NASRO, February 15 was chosen because it’s the birthdate of founding member Archie Hodge – the only founder still active in the organization. Hodge retired in 2006 after serving as an SRO for 22 years. Learn more about the SROs within the Johnston Community School District by visiting www.cityofjohnston.com/548/School-Resource-Officers.View (PDF) the signed proclamation.
