Someone Pretending to be the Police? Johnston Police Blotter

Aug. 20:

American TV, 5355 NW 86th St., reported a man attempted to purchase 2 televisions using someone else's personal information.

Aug. 21:

A woman reported someone had used her personal information to open two credit accounts at different stores.

Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in a vehicle at 6100-B Merle Hay Road. Dennis A. Baker, 32, of West Des Moines, was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

A man reported receiving a phone call from someone claiming to be with the Harrisburg Police Department. When he questioned the caller they hung up. When the Johnston Police Department officer called the number they hung up on the officer as well.

Daniel Lee Salem, 46, of Des Moines, was arrested and charged with driving while barred.
