Blistering Hot Weather to Start, Rain, then Cooler: This Week in Marion Weather

Fall is almost here, but Summer isn't going to give up without a fight.

The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities is predicting near record highs tomorrow in Marion. This will lead into Tuesday where the temperatures will be slightly cooler but still hot, with a chance of thunderstorms. After that we'll get some relief, with highs in the 80s and even down into the 70s by the weekend.

Here's how the week will look:

  • Monday Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 96. Southeast wind 5 to 15 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
  • Monday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 69. Southwest wind around 10 mph.
  • Tuesday A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 92.
  • Tuesday Night A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
  • Wednesday A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 85.
  • Wednesday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 61.
  • Thursday Sunny, with a high near 80.
  • Thursday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 52.
  • Friday Sunny, with a high near 71.
  • Friday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 49.
  • Saturday Sunny, with a high near 73.
  • Saturday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 53.
  • Sunday A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 76.

This may be hard to believe given how dry it has been lately, but the Weather Underground 10-day forecast has more chances for rain next week as well.
