With City Council approval, in March 2022, the City of Marion will be increasing sanitary sewer fees from $4.39 to $4.60 per flow unit due to increasing costs associated with wastewater treatment services. For a single family home that utilizes 600 cubic feet of water per month, the increase will equate to an additional $1.26 increase. Additional increases are anticipated in July 2022 and are currently being evaluated by City staff as part of the budget process for next fiscal year. Currently, the City of Marion contracts with the City of Cedar Rapids for wastewater treatment services. Charges for wastewater treatment services have continued to increase and will directly impact future sanitary sewer rates to Marion residents.
