Heat Advisory Declared: This Week in Hot, Hot, Hot Marion Weather

Now this is the August weather we're all used to enjoying. I knew we were being set up for a disappointment a few weeks ago with those temperatures in the 70s.

The National Weather Service has already declared a heat advisory for much of Eastern Iowa, including Marion, extending at the moment through 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday.  

A large area of hot and humid air building over the plains will spread over Eastern Iowa, Northeast Missouri and Western Illinois Monday and tuesday. Temperatures will reach well into the 90s, with heat index values from 100 to 104 during the afternoon and early evening hours Monday and Tuesday. Conditions will remain warm and muggy through the overnight hours as well.

Here's the NWS Forecast for Marion. Looks like a hot game day in Iowa City Saturday.

• Tuesday Sunny and hot, with a high near 96. Heat index values as high as 102.
• Tuesday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 72.
• Wednesday Mostly sunny, with a high near 91.
• Wednesday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 69.
• Thursday Mostly sunny, with a high near 90.
• Thursday Night A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70.
• Friday A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91.
• Friday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 70.
• Saturday Mostly sunny, with a high near 93.
