Marion Fire Department Receives 2012 Life Safety Achievement Award

The Marion Fire Department has earned a 2012 Life Safety Achievement Award given by the National Association of State Fire Marshals Fire Research and Education Foundation and Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company.

The Marion Fire Department has earned a 2012 Life Safety Achievement Award given by the National Association of State Fire Marshals Fire Research and Education Foundation and Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company.

 

The Life Safety Achievement Award recognizes local fire prevention efforts that have contributed to reducing the number of lives lost in residential fires.

The Marion Fire Department qualified for the award by having zero fire deaths in 2012 and demonstrating the existence of an active and effective fire prevention and public education program.  This is the second consecutive year that the Marion Fire Department has earned this award.

“The Fire Department takes pride in educating our citizens and maintaining a minimal fire loss year after year,” said Jason Hansen, district chief/fire marshal for the Marion Fire Department. “We attribute that to the prevention efforts and educational outreach of our Prevention Bureau and department employees. These efforts resulted in over 8,000 public education contacts last year.”
