An auto parts supplier is celebrating the opening of its Urbandale plant.

DENSO Manufacturing Michigan Iowa Plant at 11323 Meredith Drive in Urbandale is part of Denso Corp's three-quarters of a billion dollars of investment in domestic production.
There will be a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday with speeches by company executives. Denso also has a plant in Waterloo.

The Urbandale plant assembles cooling modules for the agricultural and construction industries, as well as handles pass-through products, such as radiator assemblies and cooling modules for the construction, agriculture and electric power industries, the company said in a news release.
According to the company's website, "Denso is a global automotive supplier of advanced automotive technology, systems and components." The company is headquartered in Kariya, Aichi prefecture, Japan and has a regional hub in Southfield, MI. Denso has announced plans to invest $750 million and create 1,200 jobs in the U.S.
"In the U.S., DENSO is looking at investing more than $750 million in Michigan, Tennessee, Iowa, California and North Carolina. The investment represents an increase in research and development, an expansion in existing production lines, the creation of new production lines, and the opening a new assembly and warehouse facility to support its Heavy Duty customers."
The Urbandale plant has been in production since February and has seven employees, according to a Des Moines Register report.
