  • Friday: Five brothers from Urbandale and Des Moines, possibly the largest surviving family of World War II veterans are honored by Gov. Terry Branstad.
  • Thursday: Urbandale Hy-Vee's plans for a new store will make it the largest Hy-Vee in the metro area. New features to include, gas pumps, a sushi bar, and a Caribou coffee shop
  • Wednesday: 560 people vote in a Patch Poll (check this number before Sunday) on the allegations against Herman Cain and 54 percent say they Β don't believe the allegations against him. Β Also, Patch profiles the new frozen yogurt shop in Urbandale - Orange Leaf.
  • Wednesday: Urbandale received the Dan Chavez Beyond the Horizon Award in recognition of a program started in 2009 by theΒ Parks and Recreation Department, teachers and the Karen Acres Elementary School. The program, called Making a Connection, helps children who struggle with social skills, food and education during the summer months.
  • Tuesday: The Urbandale City Council Election comes down to 3 votes between challengers Creighton Cox and Tony Montgomery.Β
