UCAN, Urbandale Police Host Smart Phone Parenting Workshop

The free workshop will cover a number of issues regarding smart phones - texting, parental controls and more.

Not quite sure how to monitor your child's internet time with new smartphones?

The Urbandale Community Action Network, along with Verizon Wireless and the Urbandale Police Department host a second Smart Phone Parentign Workshop on March 4.

The free workshop aims to promote responsible wireless usage regardless of wireless carrier. Information and advice on topics such as parental controls and safeguard services, avoiding unwanted calls and charges, understanding text message language, privacy laws and more will be discussed.

β€œThe workshop was a great opportunity to gather a lot of helpful information as well as get insight from other parents who have been down this road already,” Sue Mears, who attended a similiar event in October, said.Β

The workshop will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, March 4 at the Lions Park Shelter.
