UPDATED: Urbandale City Council to Have Extra Meeting to Seek Trail Money

Afternoon update: See a map of the park and proposed trail in western Urbandale.

Urbandale City Council will have a brief, special meeting Tuesday to vote on an application for up to $350,000 in state money to help build a new trail through the Walnut Creek Regional Park.

City Manager A.J. Johnson said the deadline to have the grant to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources is Oct. 1 and the council normally does not meet again until Oct. 4.

The grant could provide up to half the estimated $735,000 cost of creating the Bob Layton Trail through the park from Douglas Β Avenue at about 146th Street to Meredith Drive.
