Urbandale Council Approves Funding Agreement for 100th Street and 54th Avenue Intersection Project

The Urbandale City Council approved an agreement for Surface Transportation Project grant funds with the Iowa Department of Transportation.

The intersection of 100th Street and 54th Avenue will be getting a makeover soon.

On Jan. 8, the Urbandale City Council approved an Iowa Department of Transportation funding agreement for $2.155 million in Surface Transportation Project grant funds.Β 

The 100th Street and 54th Avenue Intersection Project would reconstruct 54th Avenue from approximately 1,050 feet west of 100th Street to approximately 1,050 feet east of 100th Street.

100th Street would be reconstructed from approximately 1,850 feet south of 54th Avenue to approximately 1,050 north of 54th Avenue.

The roads would be constructed with an urban cross section, storm sewer, left turns at the major intersections and traffic signals at the intersections of 100th Street with Northpark Drive and 54th Avenue.

The MPOΒ notified the City that STP funds had been awarded to this project for construction in 2013.

In order to finalize the funding for the project, the Iowa DOTΒ prepared a Surface Transportation Project funding agreement. Under the agreement, the Iowa DOT would provide STP grant funds of $2,155,000 for the 100th Street and 54th Avenue Intersection Project. The total estimated project cost is $4,125,000.
