Urbandale Couple Make 12-12-12 Their Own By Getting Hitched By Candlelight

Monica Epley and Dave Meyer were part of a national trend of couples tying the knot on the date 12-12-12.

It was a game-changing day, say some numerologists.

The prediction is true for Urbandale residents Monica Epley and Dave Meyer.

The couple of two years exchanged "I Do's" at 7 p.m. yesterday in the Lions Park Gazebo on the one-in-a-lifetime date.

The couple, who met online two years ago, became engaged about a year ago, Epley, 40 said.

Picking such a unique wedding date was just happenstance.

"We knew we were getting married but kept holding off," she said. "It kind of came about as coinky-dink after he proposed. We went to wedding shows and they asked for a date. I just, loe-and-behold, wrote 12-12-12."

And so the date was set.

"It's cool," she said. "We won't ever forget."

But the story gets better.

Epley's birthday is Dec. 13. Meyer's is Friday, Dec. 14.

"It's kind of funny, we both are 40, then the next day I turn, then he turns," she said Tuesday. "You'll never forget that."

The intimate, candle-light ceremony should be picture perfect.

"In my head, it played out like that," she said. "I went naturalistic, my bouquet is made of pine cones, it's been fabulous."

Epley said she can't change the day of the week 12-12-12 ended up on, but she expects 50 to 75 guests to be in attendance.Β

"We don't have a wedding party," she said. "People have said they are attending, but we'll see how things are for people after work."

The ceremony was followed by a cake reception at the couple's home for family, friends and their two pooches - Sunshine and Booger.

"People have been really giving and gracious," she said. "I'm going into it feeling very blessed."

One New York-based astrologer explained that 12-12-12 is expected to be a day of luck, expansion and joy.

Epley knows that prediction is true.

"This is one year that's going to change for everyone," Epley said. "Some pretty amazing things are yet to come, I know in my own life."
