Urbandale Food Service Team: Supporting Those In Need
The team donated over seven times their size in non-perishable food to the Urbandale Food Pantry.

From the Urbandale School District:
Not only does the Urbandale Community School District Food Service Team prepare and serve meals for over 3,800 students on a daily basis, they also make time for organizing, promoting, and participating in food drives for the Urbandale Food Pantry. On December 12, 2012, the 37 member team donated over seven times their size in non-perishable food items for the Urbandale Food Pantry.
βWe are blessed to be part of such an amazing community! The Urbandale Community School District does so much for the Urbandale Food Pantry,β said Eileen Boggess, Executive Director, Urbandale Food Pantry. βDuring this holiday season, Jensen Elementary donated 10 Thanksgiving meals, Valerius Elementary had a huge food donation, Urbandale High School students donated food and personal care items, the student senate adopted a family for our holiday program, and now the Urbandale Food Service Team has donated much needed food items! I am sure I have forgotten someone because the Urbandale School district is so generous. We appreciate all that you do for our neighbors in need.β
This is the second year the Urbandale Food Service Team has conducted a food drive for the Urbandale Food Pantry. In order to top last yearβs donations a fun incentive was created; all team members that donated food items were invited to wear blue jeans for the day.
βBy collecting food items for the Urbandale Food Pantry, our team feels a great deal of pride as we know we are providing for some of the families we feed during school,β said Cathy Conklin, Director of Food Services, Urbandale Community School District. βTo make it even more meaningful, we picked 12/12/12 as our donation day and added an extra bonus of wearing blue jeans all day. As you can tell from the photo, we had lots of participation.β
