Urbandale Police Honor Their Own Employees of the Year
The department recognizes Officer of the Year, Reserve Officer of the Year and Civilian Employee of the Year.

The Urbandale Police Department is pleased to announce the 2012 Officer of the Year, Reserve Officer of the Year, and Civilian Employee of the Year.
Officer Randall Peterson:
Officer Peterson is a 7 year veteran of the Urbandale Police Department and is currently the Community Relations/ Crime Prevention Officer. Officer Peterson has numerous collateral duties such as Public Information Officer, Bicycle Patrol Officer, and Child Seat Technician. He is also a member of the Urbandale Police Honor Guard.
Peterson was recently awarded Iowa Crime Prevention Officer of the Year by colleagues from across the state. He has also been the driving force behind Urbandaleβs National Night Out.

Due to his dedication to this event the Urbandale Police Department has earned national recognition for the past three years.
Reserve Lieutenant Tom Frakes:
Reserve Officer Tom Frakes holds the rank of Lieutenant within the Urbandale Police Reserve Program. He has been an Urbandale Police Reserve Officer for 14 years, dedicating many hours to the city he resides in.

Frakes is also employed by the City of Urbandale and works full time in the Public Works Department.
He has been instrumental in keeping the high standards expected in the Urbandale Police Reserve Program.
Lisa Andrews:
Lisa Andrews was hired by the Urbandale Police Department in 2011as an administrative specialist. Ms. Andrewβs attention to detail and dedication to excellence has helped the Urbandale Police Department improve its service to the community through statistical data gathering, interpretation and presentation.
Ms. Andrews received her BA from the University of Northern Iowa in 2001 and continued her education there receiving her MA shortly afterward. She was employed by SunTran in Tucson, Arizona prior to coming to Urbandale.
