Urbandale's Snow or No Snow Day Event Is Saturday

This year's event will go on with or without snow.

So far, the weather may be cooperating for Urbandale Community Action Network’s third attempt at hosting Urbandale’s Snow Day.Β

But just in case the weather changes, UCAN is prepared.Β

The organization is billing this year’s event as β€œSnow or No Snow Day” as the event will go on with or without snow.

β€œThis is the third year UCAN has hosted a Snow Day,” said Bruce Bernard, event co-chair. β€œThe first two years we had green grass and no snow. This year we plan to have the event β€˜weather’ we have snow or not so we’ve incorporated activities that don’t rely on snow.”

Snow or No Snow Day activities will include snowman sculpting, three legged races, sled races, crafts, tug-o-war, and an egg toss and snowshoeing. A big addition this year is a Game Truck. All visitors participating in the other activities will win a chance to play video games in the Game Truck.

β€œWe hope all residents will join us for some good, old-fashioned winter fun! We have great community parks in Urbandale and they can be enjoyed any time of year,” said Bernard. β€œBring your family, meet some neighbors, and enjoy whatever the weather will be that day.” Hot chocolate and cookies will be available.

This year's event is scheduled for Saturday, January 19, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Lion’s Park, 72nd & Prairie in Urbandale.
