Was It Hot Enough to Make You Turn on the A/C?

Urbandale felt the heat on Tuesday, but enjoy it while it last. Severe spring weather, then snow and sleet are in the forecast for later this week.

Admit it. You were tempted to turn on the A/C Tuesday.

But who turned that dial?

I try to withstand the temptation until as late in June as tolerable. Then again, I tend to make things as difficult as possible.

It was 84 degrees in late afternoon. That's downright blistering heat compared to recent weeks.

But enjoy it while it lasts. There's a hazardous weather advisory that went in effect as of 3:30 p.m. due to likely thunderstorms and showers.

Rain was expected Tuesday night from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., and then most of the day and night on Wednesday.

By the end of the week, on Thursday and Friday, we could be looking at snow and sleet, and to wrap up the week - more rain late Friday and Saturday. Temperatures could dip 43 degrees during the day on Thursday and Friday and in the 30s in the overnights.

Here's from the National Weather Service hazardous weather advisory:

Thunderstorms are expected to develop along a cold front late this afternoon and develop into the evening. A few severe storms are possible with half-dollar sized hail and 60 mile per hour winds possible. In addition conditions are favorable for training storms, which may led to a narrow band of heavy rainfall.

Wednesday-Monday: Rain will remain in the forecast Wednesday through Friday night. Rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches may cause significant (but within banks) rises along many rivers, with minor flooding occuring in some locations.
