A few years ago, the Webster PTO started a tradition of having an annual "Pay It Forward" day to give students at Webster a chance to experience helping others. Β

The first year, students all made cards for children receiving services from ChildServe. The last two years, they have collected items for the Urbandale Food Pantry. Β

This year's theme was "Cloudy With A Chance of Meeting Our Goal." Β The PTO Pay It Forward Committee made a cute and clever video showing the Urbandale Food Pantry and explaining how they work and who they help.

Then students were given a goal of collecting 2,500 food items. Β Each classroom was given its own specific item to collect and a numerical goal.

Student council co-presidents, Brook Heinen and Elle Brownell gave updates on progress throughout a two-week collection period, playing the parts of Flint Lockwood and Sammy Sparks, characters from the movie, "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs", about an inventor who finds a way to make it rain down food.Β

Thanks to the generosity of the families at Webster Elementary, we surpassed our goal.Β
