5 Things Waukee Residents Should Know: August 10
Here's what's going on in Waukee today and some other stuff you might want to know, too.

1) Waukee Schools Registration Due Yesterday
If you haven't signed your child up for the 2011-2012 school year, yesterday was the deadline to do so. School superintendent Dave Wilkerson said the district had only received approximately 6,300 online registrations of an expected 7,000. Parents should have received a letter in the mail regarding online registration. If you haven't yet received it or are having problems with your registration, please contact the Waukee Schools district office at 987-2706.
2) The Waukee Farmer’s Market

If you’re looking for some fun tonight, check out the Farmer’s Market on the historic downtown Triangle. Fruits and veggies, handmade jewelry, even kettle corn can all be had from 4 to 7 p.m.
3) Movie Night

Westwind Church is hosting a movie night at Jordan Creek Town Center’s Century 20 Theaters. They will be watching, “The Smurfs” and everyone is invited to attend. Movie night runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
4) The Weather
It’s going to shape up to be a gorgeous day in Iowa today. Expect partly cloudy skies with a high near 76. Tonight is much of the same with a low near 59.
5) National S’mores day
So maybe it isn’t recognized by Congress but that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate it. Today, August 10, is National S’mores Day! Who doesn’t love those ooey-gooey, best-eaten around the campfire treats? Grab some graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate bars and go to town. Yum!
