5 Things Waukee Residents Should Know: August 8

Here's what's going on in Waukee today and some other stuff you might want to know, too.

1) Yard Waste Pick Up Day

Today is the day. Make sure that all yard waste is placed on the curb in clearly marked containers or yard waste bags, and that sticks, twigs and tree limbs are bundled and are no longer than 4 feet. If your yard waste is missed today, the City asks that you contact the Utility Office at 978-5502.

2) Waukee City Council Meeting Tonight

The Waukee City Council will meet tonight for its regularly scheduled meeting at 5:30 in the Waukee City Hall Chambers. If you miss this one, the next meeting will be held on Monday, August 22.

4) The Weather

The lawn says, “Let it rain!” and in today’s forecast, that might actually happen. There’s a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms today with a high near 82. Tonight, a 40 percent chance of storms with a low near 66.

5) Fill’er Up!

For the second day in a row, the Kum & Go stations at Ute Avenue & I-80, Fourth & Laurel Streets and University & LA Grant Pkwy all have gas for $3.53 a gallon, according to IowaStateGasPrices.com.
