Brookview Elementary Seeks Donations for 'All for Books' Program
Brookview Elementary is asking for donations for "All for Books," a program helping kids and teachers in need.

Brookview Elementary School is seeking donations for its All for Books program this week.
All for Books is a program offered by Scholastic for use during Book Fairs. Any money collected during the fair can be used to purchase books for those students with limited means unable to purchase a new book. Scholastic allows the school to log these sales under the All For Books category, allowing the school to count these as regular sales. This results in additional total profit for the school, as well as allowing Scholastic to match dollar for dollar by contributing to two national campaigns:
The benefits of donating to this program are:

- Brookview students are able to enjoy a new book of their own.
- Scholastic donates matching amount to national , non-profit organizations that help children & teachers acquire books: Kids in Distressed Situations and Kids in Need Foundation.
While Brookview Elementary is usually viewed as having a fairly affluent student socio-economic population, the fact is that we have 17% of our population eligible for free and reduced lunch, as well as 63 ESL (English as a Second Language) students, many that are newly arrived refugees.
Donations will be accepted starting this Friday, Nov. 9 through Thursday, Nov. 15. All donations will need to be made by Nov. 15.

Brookview officials are hoping that by gaining community support for the schools' BookFair that they will be selected for the top award in Scholastic Elementary School Contest. This would bring national recognition to Brookview Elementary and its PTO, as well as secure the prize of an additional $2,000 Scholastic dollars for the Brookview media center and an author visit by Dave Pilkey, the author of the Captain Underpants series.
