Fire Hydrant Testing Leads to 3-Vehicle Crash and Expensive Damage: Waukee Police Calls

Arrests do not indicate convictions.

From the Waukee Police call logs:

A vehicle driven by Tyler Pfaltzgraff, of 950 SE Indigo Lane in Waukee, was traveling westbound at 7:47 a.m. on Tuesday in the 1100 block of SE University Avenue. He stopped at a stop light at the intersection of Alice’s Road. Vehicles driven by Marisa Menard, of 8602 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, and Emily Howard of 15224 Rosewood Drive in Clive, were traveling westbound in the 1100 block of SE University where city waterworks staff were testing a fire hydrant on the north side of SE University and water was flowing on to the street. Menard and Howard were slowing down to stop and due to slippery road conditions rear ended Pfaltzgraff’s vehicle. Vehicle damage estimated at $4,500.

A vehicle driven by Travi Downey, of 8602 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, was traveling westbound at 4:34 p.m. on Tuesday in the 100 block of SE Laurel Street when a vehicle driven by Shirley Campbell, of 525 33rd Street in West Des Moines, pulled out of a parking lot. She was traveling northbound onto SE Carefree Lane and was struck by Downey’s vehicle. Vehicle damage estimated at $3200.

Susie Lupkes, of 710 62nd Street in West Des Moines, reported a theft of a cell phone at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the 600 block of SE University Avenue valued at $200.

Sabrina Roberts, of 335 S. 62nd Street in West Des Moines, reported a theft of a cell phone at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the 600 block of SE University Avenue valued at $200.

A vehicle driven by Ethan Rohlk, of 2135 SE Leeann Drive in Waukee, was traveling westbound at 4:26 p.m. on Wednesday on 312th Place. Rohlk lost control of the vehicle and over corrected and went off the roadway on the southside and struck a tree. Vehicle damage estimated at $4,000. Rohlk was cited for failure to maintain control.

Tracie Martin, 31, of Waukee, was arrested for domestic assault-simple and interference with official acts at 4:48 a.m. on Thursday in the 1100 block of Maple Leaf Lane.
