Five Things Waukee Residents Should Know: About Waukee Fest

One of the year's biggest celebrations starts today at 7 a.m. Here are a Five Things you shouldn't miss today.

1) Mmm...Pancakes!

The West Side Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast starts in the community tent on the Triangle at 7 a.m. Last call for flapjacks is 10 a.m. All proceeds from the breakfast will go toward the purchase of books for Waukee Elementary.

2) We Love a Parade!

The “Wild Wild Waukee” parade starts at 11 a.m. at Waukee Middle School, travels down Northview Drive and across Fourth Street, and ends at Waukee Elementary School.

3) That's Entertainment!

The Waukee Arts Council, in addition to children's arts and activities, will be providing the musical entertainment for the day. The schedule is as follows: 

11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Brian Hutzell
12:45 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. Jazz Combo (high school students Ross Closwer, Ryan Bernard Lauren Johnson)
2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. The Reservoir Dogs (Waukee juniors Logan Grote, Clinton Garlock, Harrison Cook, Luke Walsh)

4) Kid Stuff

There will be inflatables, a mini golf, an obstacle course, visits from a Princess and Spiderman and the Waukee YMCA will have activities and games for the kids, as well. Wristbands will be sold on the Triangle for all-day fun on the inflatables.

5) Dinner and a Band

Grab a steak dinner, courtesy of the American Legion from 6 to 8 and stick around for Gimikk on the main stage drom 6:30 to 10 p.m. A beer garden will also be available throughout the evening.
