Here's what's going on in Waukee today and some other stuff you might want to know.

1) Book Talk

If you're looking for something fun to do today, check out the Waukee Public Library's book discussion group. The group meets the third Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. Light refreshments are provided and new members are always welcome to attend.Today, attendees are encouraged to bring a snack and couple of their favorite books to share.

2) Iowa State Fair

It's your last day to check out the Iowa State Fair before school starts tomorrow. Today is Firestone Farm Tire Day at the Fair. Stop by their tent on the Grand Concourse for more information. Admission is $10 for adults, $4 for children 6-12 and children 5 and under are free.

3) Fall/Winter Activities

The Waukee Parks & Recreation's fall/winter programs are now available to view online. Registration will open on Friday at 8:00 a.m. Residents are encouraged to view the schedule on the Waukee Parks & Recreation activity website.

4) The Weather

Today, expect a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 83. Tonight, there's a 30 percent chance of storms late in the evening with a low near 68.

5) The Price of Gas

According to IowaStateGasPrices.com, gas was only $3.26 at the Kum & Go at Ute Avenue and I-80.
