Five Things Waukee Residents Should Know: August 28
Here's what's going on in Waukee today and some other stuff you might want to know.

1) Bonifest
St. Boniface Catholic Church is hosting its eighth annual Bonifest in Centennial Park today from 11:30 to 2:30. There will be a picnic lunch of pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, baked beans potato chips, ice cream and watermelon. Games and family-friendly activities will follow.

Shelly Hughes of Waukee is running for an At Large seat on the Waukee City Council. You can attend Hughes' campaign kick-off and fundraiser from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Glynn Village Community Clubhouse. The suggested minimum contribution is $25. Light appetizers and refreshments will be served.Â

3) Live at the Creek
Stop by the Jordan Creek Town Center Ampitheater tonight from 5 to 8 p.m. for the Live at the Creek concert series. Tonight's featured artist is Dueling Pianos.
4) The Weather
Today, expect a 20 percent chance of showers after 1 p.m. Expect a high of 84. Tonight, another 20 percent chance of showers with a low near 61.
5) Did You Know?
New traffic speed cameras have been installed on I-235. If you take that route to work in the mornings, be watchful. The cameras have been activated and will start sending out warning notices to drivers beginning Monday. The traffic cameras are located in the eastbound lanes of I-235 between 56th Street and Polk Boulevard
