Five Things Waukee Residents Should Know: August 30

Here's what's going on in Waukee today and some other stuff you might want to know.

1) Eason and Walnut Hills Elementary Curriculum Night

Eason Elementary and Walnut Hills Elementary will both host a Curriculum Night tonight to discuss curriculum in your child's classroom. Teachers will meet parents in their child's classroom from 6 to 8 p.m. (depending on your child's grade level). Please check with the school for exact times. Parents are asked not to bring children, if possible, so that parents and teachers can discuss without interruption.

2) Boy Scouts Recruiting Night

If your son is entering first through fifth grade and would like to join the Cub Scouts, come to Cub Scout Pack 180's recruiting night at Brookview Elementary tonight from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

If you are unable to attend, there will be a meeting on September 13 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Brookview Elementary Cafeteria.

Here's a rundown of all the school athletic match-ups for August 30:

10 a.m. - Varsity Boys Golf vs. Fort Dodge at Fort Dodge

5 pm. - Varsity Girls and Boys Cross Country vs. Southeast Polk at Southeast Polk

5 p.m. - Varsity and JV Girls Swimming vs. Dowling Catholic at Waukee

5 p.m. - Ninth grade volleyball vs. Indianola at Indianola High School

6 p.m. - Ninth grade and JV volleyball vs. Des Moines Hoover at Hoover High School

6 p.m. - 10th grade volleyball vs. Indianola at Indianola High School

7:30 p.m. - Varsity volleyball vs. Des Moines Hoover at Hoover High School.

4) The Weather
