Here's what's going on in Waukee today and some other stuff you might want to know.

1) Waukee vs. Southeast Polk

The Waukee Warriors varsity football team will play Southeast Polk tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Southeast Polk.

If you're into running, biking and swimming, look no further than downtown Des Moines. The Hy-Vee Triathlon Expo kicks off the three-day event at the Polk County Convention Complex at noon. At 5:30, the beer garden opens in the parking lot of City Hall, at 7 p.m. The River Monks take the stage followed by the Gin Blossoms at 8:15 p.m. The concert is free.

Get your sing on tonight at Mickey's Irish Pub. Maybe you're the next Madonna or even just like to scream into the mic, either way, you should be there. The fun begins promptly at 9 p.m.

4) The Weather

Expect a 30 percent chance of storms this afternoon. High will be near 87. Tonight, partly cloudy with a low of 68.

5) Gas Prices

Gas prices are going up just in time for the Labor Day weekend to begin. According to AAA, gas prices in Iowa are averaging near $3.65. In Waukee, the cheapest place to fill up was the Kum & Go at Fourth and Laurel Streets where gas was just $3.55 a gallon, according to IowaStateGasPrices.com.
