Five Things Waukee Residents Should Know: Sept. 6

Here's what's going on in Waukee today and some other stuff you might want to know.

1) No School Today

Today is a data day in the Waukee School district which means no school today district-wide.

2) Waukee Volleyball & Swimming Compete

The 9th grade, JV and varsity volleyball teams will take on Urbandale at home today beginning at 5 p.m. The 9th grade team will play at 5 p.m. at Prairieview School, JV and varsity teams will play in the Waukee High School gym at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., respectively.

The Waukee JV and varsity girls swim teams will match up against Des Moines East at East High School tonight beginning at 5:30 p.m.

3) Waukee School Board Election Forum

Candidates for the three open seats on the Waukee Board of Education will square off tonight at the Waukee School Board Election Forum at 6:30 p.m. in the Theatre Arts Building at Prairieview School. The forum is sponsored by the Waukee Chamber of Commerce and will be moderated by former Chamber president, Chris McLinden. The Forum is open to the public.

4) The Waukee Public Library Friends & Foundation Meeting

If you have an interest in getting more involved with the Waukee Public Library, the Friends and Foundation group will hold their monthly meeting tonight at the Waukee Public Library at 6:30 p.m.

5) The Weather

Great day to be outside! Expect sunny skies with a high near 75. Tonight, mostly clear with a low of 51.
