Hy-Vee Gas Station and Convenience Store to Open in October

It's not a grocery store but it should get you by until one opens next spring.

Construction on the Hy-Vee gas station and convenience store at 1025 E. Hickman Rd. is moving along and is on schedule to open next month, says Ruth Comer, media relations with Hy-Vee Stores.

The 4,350 square-foot store is part of what will eventually be a one-stop shopping area complete with a full-service grocery store, car wash and, of course, a convenience store.

The Waukee City Council approved the original site plan for the grocery store, convenience store and car wash in February of 2011. In February of 2012, the  Council voted to extend Hy-Vee’s site plan for one year after Hy-Vee had yet to file a permit to begin building on the site.
