Prescription Drug Take-Back Day to be Held Saturday in Waukee
The Drug Enforcement Administration is sponsoring a National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day this Saturday.
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is sponsoring the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The purpose of the event is for residents who want to discard unwanted, expired and unused prescription drugs to do so safely.
In Waukee, participants can drop off their medications at the Medicap Pharmacy at 10 Warrior Lane where a Waukee police officer will be overseeing the collection. There is no charge to discard medications.

During a drug take back event in April, citizens nationwide turned in a record-breaking 552,161 pounds or 276 tons of unwanted or expired medications for disposal at 5,659 take-back sites across the country. More than 1.5 million pounds or 774 tons of medication has been disposed of as a result of the four combined take-back events held to date.
