Michele Bachmann Uses Iowan Status to Rally Crowd
Congresswoman from Minnesota plays to Iowans by promising to restore conservative values here at home.

If there’s one thing that Michele Bachmann made perfectly clear in her Straw Poll speech this afternoon in Ames, it’s that rallying Iowans is her superpower.
The 55 year-old Minnesota congresswoman, who was born and raised in Waterloo, played to the crowd of fellow Iowans by saying, “Everything I learned in life, I learned in Iowa."
Bachmann, dressed in a crisp white suit, seemed more of a cheerleader than a president as she touched on some of the core values of her campaign, specifically that marriage is between a man and a woman, and that life begins at conception.

“Family is the foundational unit of this country,” she said. “We need the family to go forward. It’s absolutely essential that we support the family. “
Bachmann’s visits, more than 70 in Iowa in 48 days, have taken her to every corner of the state and places in between.

“It is in Iowa where we are going to see greatness again,” she said, referring to the Straw Poll and Iowa caucuses. “Iowa is the bread basket of the world. I have always been grateful that I’m an Iowan. I believe it’s time you have an Iowan in the White House. “
